Terms of Service

Effective: June 4, 2026

1. Acceptance of these Terms

By accessing or using ShopHop (the "Service"), operated by ShopHop, Inc. ("ShopHop," "we," "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

2. What ShopHop is

ShopHop is an online marketplace that connects independent service professionals ("Hoppers") with venue owners who rent space ("Hosts"). ShopHop is not a party to any rental between Hopper and Host, does not own or operate any venue, and does not provide professional services.

3. Eligibility & Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter binding contracts. You agree to provide accurate registration info, keep it current, and safeguard your credentials. You are responsible for activity under your account.

4. Bookings & Payments

  • All payments are processed by Stripe. By booking or accepting bookings, you agree to Stripe's terms.
  • ShopHop charges a service fee on each booking and a host fee on each payout. Current rates are shown at checkout and on our Pricing page.
  • Hosts authorize ShopHop to facilitate payouts via Stripe Connect.
  • Applicable taxes are estimated at checkout. Hosts are responsible for reporting income and any sales tax obligations.

5. Cancellations & Refunds

Free cancellation is available up to 24 hours before the booking start time. Cancellations within 24 hours may forfeit the booking fee at the Host's discretion. No-shows are non-refundable. Hosts who cancel a confirmed booking may be subject to penalties or removal.

6. Host Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, safe, accurately described space.
  • Hold all licenses, permits, and insurance required by local law.
  • Honor confirmed bookings and respond to Hoppers in a timely manner.
  • Comply with all applicable health, safety, and cosmetology regulations.

7. Hopper Responsibilities

  • Use the space only for its stated purpose and arrive on time.
  • Leave the space in the condition you found it.
  • Carry your own professional liability insurance where required by law.
  • Respect the Host's house rules.

8. Prohibited Conduct

You may not: post false or misleading content; engage in harassment, discrimination, or illegal activity; circumvent ShopHop to avoid fees; scrape or copy content without permission; or use the Service to provide goods or services prohibited by law.

9. ShopHop Protection

ShopHop offers limited damage and dispute mediation on confirmed bookings. Coverage limits, exclusions, and the claims process are described on our Insurance page and may change.

10. Content

You retain ownership of content you submit (listings, photos, reviews) and grant ShopHop a worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute that content in connection with the Service. You represent you have rights to all content you post.

11. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. SHOPHOP DOES NOT WARRANT THE QUALITY, SAFETY, OR LEGAL COMPLIANCE OF ANY LISTING, HOST, OR HOPPER.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SHOPHOP WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO SHOPHOP IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.

13. Indemnification

You will indemnify and hold harmless ShopHop, its affiliates, and personnel from claims arising out of your use of the Service, your content, or your breach of these Terms.

14. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access at any time for any reason, including violation of these Terms. You may close your account at any time from Account Settings.

15. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved by binding arbitration in Cook County, Illinois, except where prohibited by law. You waive any right to a jury trial or class action.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced via email or in-app notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
